The Tower Hotel and Leisure Centre, Waterford’s best known venue, has been significantly upgraded by the FBD Hotel Group. The renewal project has now been completed and provides 37 ultra-modern rooms in the city’s premier venue, overlooking the river Suir at the junction of the Quays and the Mall.
Catherina Dempsey, acting general manager of the Tower Hotel and Leisure Centre, said, “This refurbishment represents a significant investment for the group as part of its on-going plans to offer the best possible standards of comfort, accommodation and stylish living to hotel guests. We are pleased to be able to secure this significant investment in the current economic circumstances and it is particularly gratifying to note that this particular investment also provides huge benefits for our customers.”
The hotel refurbishment features classically styled rooms, designed with a rich, modern, contemporary theme, featuring hardwood and natural earth tones. Amenities include ergonomic hardwood furniture, work area with wireless internet, and a well-appointed bathroom. Rooms are also equipped with plasma television sets, hair dryer, art photography prints by local photographers, all illuminated by lots of natural light, making each stay a comfortable and pleasurable one.
The refurbishment also includes all of the hotel corridors and stairwells, creating a stylish, sleek tone throughout the hotel.
“We undertook this refurbishment with the local economy in mind and wherever possible, we used local suppliers, from designers to contractors to the artwork hanging on the walls and we are really pleased with the results,” says Catherina Dempsey.
“We also very much aware of environmental considerations and fitted eco-friendly devices where possible. Guest key-cards now control the electricity supply to the room, only environmentally friendly toiletries are used and all lighting is low-energy LED blubs. We also donated the old room furniture to The St Vincent de Paul’s, Lady Lane Men’s Hostel and to Chernobyl.
“It is a very exciting time for the Tower Hotel and Leisure Centre, Waterford with the continued support, investment and commitment by the FBD Group. The Tower Hotel has always been a firm favourite with business and leisure travelers alike but the new stylish rooms will allow the hotel to better cater to our market”, adds the acting general manager.
FBD Hotel Group currently operates four hotels in Ireland: the Tower Hotel and Leisure Centre and Faithlegg House Hotel and Golf Club in Waterford, as well as the Temple Bar Hotel and Castleknock Hotel and Country Club in Dublin and Sunset Beach Club and La Cala in Spain.
